Short answers to common file questions
Questions
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser opens the document directly on your device. The site only loads its own scripts, styles and fonts; the contents, name and bytes of your file are never sent to a server.
Why is the formatting missing?
Old .doc files are opened as a text-only preview: paragraphs, tables, alignment and page breaks, without fonts, pictures, headers, footers or footnotes. Pictures and objects are marked with a placeholder. For the full layout, save the file as .docx in Word or LibreOffice and open it again.
Which .doc files open?
Documents from Word 97 to Word 2003. Files from Word 95 and older are not supported, and password-protected documents are recognised but not opened.
How large can the file be?
Up to 50 MB.
