A free XLS viewer for old Excel files
Workbooks from Excel 97–2003 (.xls) still arrive from accounting programs, banks and old archives, and not every computer has Excel to open them. OsonKit shows every sheet in the browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone, with values formatted as in the workbook.
There is nothing to install and no account, and nothing to convert first: the old file opens as it is. It is read on your device, so salaries, invoices and customer lists never go to someone else’s server.

Short answers to common file questions
Questions
Is my spreadsheet uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser opens the workbook directly on your device. The site only loads its own scripts, styles and fonts; the contents, name and bytes of your file are never sent to a server.
How do I open an .xls file without Excel?
Drop the file on this page or pick it with the button. The workbook opens here in your browser with all its sheets and a search in cells — nothing to install, and the file is not uploaded.
Which .xls files open?
Workbooks and templates (.xlt) from Excel 97 to Excel 2003, with the values Excel saved in the file. Formulas are not recalculated, and charts and pictures on the sheets are not shown. Password-protected workbooks are recognised but not opened.
Do newer .xlsx and LibreOffice .ods files open too?
Yes. Excel .xlsx workbooks and LibreOffice or OpenOffice .ods spreadsheets open the same way, with every sheet and the cell search.
How large can the workbook be?
Up to 20 MB, 100 sheets and 1,000,000 rows per sheet. When a sheet is longer, the first rows are shown and the status bar says so.
